The Hotel, Our First Tube Ride, and A Taste of Britain
Here are some pics of the exterior of the hotel. It's a converted Georgian townhouse; small, clean, and comfortable. We're a block from a tube station, Pimlico on the Victoria Line; and after a shower and brief respite in our rooms, we headed into Covent Garden for some shopping. The students had their first taste of British food at a small restaurant called Bistro 21, located just outside of Leicester Square. Bangers and Mash was the entree of the day, with strawberry cheesecake for dessert. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped by Trafalgar Square for some photo ops. Tomorrow we'll actually get to see London in daylight (and probably some light rain) and also visit Winsor Castle.
The kids are exhuasted (as are the chaperones), and I don't think it has quite registered that we're in one of the greatest cities in the world. A good night's sleep will remedy that.
I'll post again tomorrow; hopefully with more interesting pics.
